THE THREE TOWN SQUARES
Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, and Brownwood Paddock Square each run live music most nights of the week. Spanish Springs has the '50s and '60s look down to the storefronts, so it's the natural warm-up for this one. The Villages town squares
SILVER SPRINGS STATE PARK
About forty minutes north in Ocala, and the glass-bottom boats have been running there since the 1870s. You look straight down into the spring and it's clear the whole way to the bottom. Silver Springs
SHOLOM PARK
Also in Ocala, forty-four acres of gardens and quiet walking paths, and it's free. A good, slow hour before an evening show. Sholom Park
